It can be difficult to prepare for an interview when trying to land managerial jobs. Every industry has a specific and unique set of standards that they judge potential managers by, which can complicate the interview process. First, you need to think about the skills that you have that are related to planning, analysis, and organization. The second group of skills should relate to negotiating, problem solving, communicating, and making decisions. 3. Leadership
Leadership can be a very large term when preparing for managerial jobs because being able to lead is essential. When thinking about leadership, you need to prepare to discuss leadership is three scenarios. The first, and most obvious, is your ability to lead people under you. However, you also must prepare to discuss how you can lead your peers as well as how you can assume leadership responsibilities when dealing with people above you.
4. Technical and Position Specific Competencies
All managerial jobs will require you to demonstrate technical and position specific skills as well as the skills listed above. It is important to really focus on this skill set because it can either give you an edge or send you packing. Even if you do not have enough experience or demonstrated skills, proving that you have the specific skills for a position or a certain industry can overcome other shortcomings.
